Based on this, this paper posits that human trafficking is a dark side of cyberspace. Using a qualitative methodology, the use and role of the internet in human trafficking are critically explored. The gravity of human trafficking and its violation of human rights, coupled with the numerous negative impacts on its victims, demands that this issue be constantly placed at the centre of research inquiry. The fight against this modern-day slavery should be a concerted effort by all, thus this academic engagement with it. This study further aims to contribute to the body of knowledge on human trafficking, the knowledge that can hopefully assist in the fight against it and create further awareness.
